Common Questions
What DO I expect during a breathwork session?
What is breathwork?
Number one. Have no expectations!
Breathwork is the intentional practice of using the breath to support your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.
There are many different types of breathwork, each with a different purpose. Some practices can help energise and awaken the body, some can support relaxation and sleep, while others may help create space for emotional release and deeper healing.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach. The body can self-heal and the breath is a powerful tool. The right practice depends on where you are on your journey and what you currently need.
How does it work?
When we learn to consciously work with our breath, we can begin to influence our physiology, shift our nervous system state, and create more choice in how we respond. By changing our internal state, we can begin to create change in our external experience.
Breathwork is a practice of coming back to ourselves, creating space for calm, clarity, resilience, and connection.
Is it safe?
For most people, breathwork is a safe and supportive practice when guided appropriately. However, it is not suitable for everyone, and there are certain medical contraindications where specific techniques may not be recommended.
Before we begin, I’ll always take time to understand your individual circumstances, answer any medical questions or otherwise, and help guide you towards the most appropriate approach for you. Responsible, ethical, grounded breathwork is the number one goal.
How Can i prepare?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to breathe and move freely. Avoid alcohol or caffeine at least a day beforehand, as these will dilute your experience.
Stay well hydrated and try to arrive with a light stomach — avoiding a heavy meal immediately right before your session.
Most importantly, come as you are. There is nothing you need to achieve or get right — arrive with curiosity and an openness to explore.
